  This is an almost complete reworking and clarification of the eleven flights and elements based on how it works in my lore.  I don’t expect anyone else to think of it in these terms, or even in any remotely similar way.
  I just.  Love nuanced magic systems.
  Some of these… honestly probably all of them… vary a lot from the “canon” elements’ personalities.  Take it as you will.
  (and a massive thanks to Wash for help with this!  a lot of this was his idea)

though many fae frill inflections vary based on clans, many follow these patterns:  
 
frills rattle– annoyed or upset

frills fold– switch between emotions, calming down, or tired

frills droop– sad and or tired, but usually related to sadness

frills flare– surprise, sudden joy or sudden anger, extreme pain

frills undulate– uncertainty

frills stiff/stiffen– afraid, cautious

frills open, still– emotionless
 frills flap– happiness, excitement
 frills crumple– in pain, dejected

frills raised, vibrating slightly– curious
