so I hatched these kids in an attempt to get some interesting eyes. that failed. they all got common.
but they’re so pretty, I was wondeirng if anyone would be even remotely interested in Valetouched kids? they’re not from any members of my clan, but if you’d be interested in kids that were hatched in the Vale and had some weird effects from that, well, these are your guys. they’re not an official part of my lore, but dragons can absolutely wander into the Vale unintentionally and if you want some glitchy, zappy, Shadegooped weirdos, this could be a cool way to do that. if you are interested, you can have one for free.
[shrugs] dunno, and thought I’d check.
the kids themselves are, in order:
triple robin (f) cyan/robin/robin (m) phthalo/abyss/phthalo (f) phthalo/cyan/phthalo (f)
y’all ever noticed how almost every flight has that one Freaky Eldritch Area? the Hewn City comes to mind, but like. Cairnstone Rest and Leviathan Trench are both spooky as hell, the Blacksand Annex has that bit about “inexplicable events and dreadful shapes moving deep in the pervasive mist”.
i’d maybe pinpoint these as locations of pillar shards, where the ambient magic is so intense that reality itself is slightly warped. if even Shadow dragons can get lost in the Foxfire Bramble you know something is fucky
and Lightning’s is the Carrion Canyon, where time and space do not work exactly as expected. though crossing seems like it ought to be a straight shot (you can see the other rim right ahead of you) you can walk for days and days on end and never get any closer. in some locations night never falls, and even the well-prepared eventually succumb to exposure; in the shadows of the cliffs, the temperature plummets, and even the desert sun fails to pierce the gloom.
most legitimate trading routes bypass the Canyon entirely, preferring to skirt into Light or Fire despite the added travel time. while some known crossings do exist, they’re largely the work of smugglers and the desperate. trying to hire a guide seems smart, but they must be vetted carefully, as most will just as soon rob you blind and leave you for dead.
The Hibernal Den better have a LOT of space, because I am absolutely ready to kick like a half of my lair there because they’re all unbreedable lizards just sitting here being pretty.
Same here, can’t wait to move some of my non breeding fan dragons in there :p
I wanna just use it as an excuse to fix up lore and place my lazy butt dragons into there. So many of them I don’t wanna part with but they… dont do anything…
Depressed Pearlcatchers with tiny pearls because nothing is worth remembering. They’ll forget what the layers mean to them anyway.
Anxious Pearlcatchers with enormous pearls. Everything could end at any second and every moment is precious.
Bipolar Pearlcatchers with normal sized pearls, but the layers are really thick in some places and thin in others. There are huge gaps in the memory time line.
ADD/ADHD Pearlcatchers with malformed, lopsided pearls that didn’t dry correctly and haven’t moved in days. Layers get added too many at a time, and days or weeks later.
so, because i made myself a roster of my entire lair compared to each other using a combination of official art and the wing/body online ratio generator, I’d like to present
CCT’S Worst Wing Ratio Awards
7th – Sage, not so bad, but really, do you need all that wing
6th – Angel, CALM DOWN
5th – Coffer, you’re a damn librarian, what are you going to do with those
4th – Pond, :c who hurt you
3rd – Laser is a fucking BUMBLEBEE
2nd – Ash, who is a goddamn albatross or something
1st – Crow, I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I MADE HIM A SCHOLAR LMAOO
