Fae and the elements

arcanicusva:

So, yknow, in the Encyclopedia there’s this one passage about fae:

TLDR, they are very deeply connected to the magic of their own element and struggle when they’re on a land with no appropriate magic

As a fae lover, I’ve been thinking: what about the fae who move to other clans, possibly on lands with no fitting magic whatsoever and only their natural magic reserves to work off of?

So, my headcanon is:

fae can learn to be in tune even with the more foreign elements.

A shadow fae, who migrated with their clan to the Hewn city, learns the duality of light and shadow, and their dark eyes get bright golden specks to display their knowledge.

A lightning fae, living in the Leviathan Trench, has adapted and can send extremely well controlled bolts of boiling, electrified water without causing a shock around them that jolts all their friends as well; their eyes are a whirlpool of dark blue and bright cyan.

And a fae, born where the Starwood strand and the Wandering contagion meet, with their eyes of deep magenta, was born into the two elements and navigates two energies into something chaotic, vile, contaminating and ever shifting. One hit of magic from them could mean there is an infestation of living crystal growing inside you now.

Idk but its food for thought.
